OpenOSX has released ($25), its prepackaged solution for configuring and utilizing the included optimized open-source "Bochs" software, which enables x86/Pentium-based operating systems on on Macs running Mac OS X 10.2 or later. it features "hand-built" binaries that run 25% faster than standard binaries (with both G4 and G5 optimizations), according to the company. It also brings support for an internal modem, the ability to save settings, and limited support for virtual Network Interface Cards (NIC), "Sound Blaster"-compatible card, USB, and 32-bit color SVGA Video. WinTel features a customizable single-click installer with separate disk images of 10 ready-to-use, popular open source x86 operating systems pre-installed, including RedHat Linux, FreeDos and FreeBSD.
