Hopefully it won't involve a change to the DRM as a result of the DRM strippers that have come out.

What Kind of Update?

04/26, 02:14pm reply

Is it going to be an informational update, with a bunch of statistics and numbers on how successful iTMS has been. Or will it be an actual software update, with new features?

I want a new iPod so that I can finally buy one. I've finally decided to buy one but have been putting it off since the last major updates were announced a year ago.

What it should be

04/26, 02:59pm reply

What it should be:

- Announce lauch of iTunes Music Store Canada (now)
- Announce lauch of iTunes Music Store Europe (now)
- Announce that more than 100,000,000 songs sold
- Announce iPod 4th Gen supporting high quality record
- Announce device to be connected to the stereo sporting an ipod like interface to your iTunes music library (called iHub)
- Announce iTunes 5 supporting video on demand and iHub

Well, according to the growth rate in the second figure of this http://news.com.com/2100-1027_3-5199227.html article, 100 mio songs sold still looks possible.

Should be / will be

04/26, 04:37pm reply

Should be:

- iTMS internationally
- iPod 4th Gen with FM tuner/FM record/voice record. Includes OGG and WMA support.
- iPod Mini now $150
- iTMS downloads: choice of WAV, AAC 128kbs or 190kbs
- iTMS songs now encoded with their lyrics, viewable on the iPod or in iTunes

Will be:

- iPod is now the sole focus of apple. The mac is dead.
- iPod Super with 200 GB selling for $1500
- For an extra $100, Steve will sign his name onto your iPod mini
- Any of you using PlayFair will be sued. "We'll get the RIAA on you cheap pirating b*******."
- iPod minis in psychedelic colors. Basically, if you look at one, you will have a sesure.
- iPod fashion police. Any of you carrying an iPod mini that doesn't match your outfit will be carted off to Apple Reform School
- etc.
