    Why?

Why would I want to trade a PDA with limited Mac support (Palm- many conduits are not available for Mac) for one with 0 Mac support. Last time I looked at the Mobile WinBlows platform, most of the install programs were .exe files. How to sync them? How do you get support? HP 'ain't gonna support you, M$ isn't, is PocketMac?

This is just idiocy. The Palm is already the best PDA out there (do you really want the hassles of WinBlows on a PDA)...

    pleeeeease

Somebody at HP has gotten into the medication closet again. I have both a Tungsten C and a Tungsten T2 and according to HP the "fair market trade in value" is $50 for both of them. All I can say to this scam...er plan is ahhh no.

    Yep

Pocket PCs may be more powerful, but they work just like windows, and windows sucks. Maybe other morons out there are too stupid to learn a PDA OS and thus want it to work exactly like windows, complete with start menu and all that c***. Not me.

    Stupid

You guys are talking out of ignorance. Pocket PC does NOT work or look like Windows at all. In fact, it looks and acts more like a Mac than Palm. The only thing Windows about it is the programming interface.

And Pocket Mac provides MORE synching options than anything on the Palm side.

    Ah, but

Pocket PCs are fine, although to get the best out of them you need third party software. Some of the third party software is superior to what you can get on a Palm. I know because I've used both types of device. The PocketMac software on the other hand is leaves a lot to be desired, even in its third revision, and for me, it does much less than it promises. However, their support people do try to help, and are fairly responsive.

    More Sync options?

Please. One thing I love on my palm is the sync with Quicken on the Mac using PocketQuicken. Unfortunately, Landware doesn't support the Mac on the PPC version of the software.

I also use AutoSlate to manage my car's business usage. It has a Mac conduit that puts things into an Excel spreadsheet. Where is something that will support the Mac on the PPC side?

I use my Tungsten T as a player for Audible. It's barely (beta) supported on the Palm on the Mac. What's the chance of Audible supporting the Mac with it's PPC software?

And, yes, even PPC 2003 still looks like WinBlows. With its start menu and all.

So, if anything, this would be a DOWNGRADE for Most Mac Palm users. Not a smart thing at all.

    Sosumi?

Isn't putting an Apple "skin" on this thing just asking Apple to sue you?

Not obvious to me how they can stick the Apple logo on it and get away with it.

Whatever happened to the "Zen of Palm"? Or who needs multi-media playback capability? Or who needs color screen? Or who needs a PDA that multi-tasks? And lastly, what happened to the superior battery life of the original Palms?

Basically, every criticism Palm has ever launched against PPC (with or without the context of the OS arguments), Palm has now adopted it. PPC has been stagnant for the last year or two but is in processing of updating its offerings (VGA screen, faster processor etc).

I love my Mac and iPod because i think they are best-of-breed in their genres. It is unfortunate that PPC cannot sync (well) to Macs but I too think it is best-of-breed as well.
