Expression 3.3 now available from Microsoft

Microsoft last week released Expression 3.3 on its web site, after Microsoft finalized a deal late last year to acquire Creature House and its Expression 3 software. "Expression 3, the innovative vector-based stylish drawing and illustration software that continues to re-define vector graphics [...] you will find Expression 3 an indispensable tool for your creative tasks." It runs on both Mac OS 9/X. (Version changes and other related information were not available at press time.)

i just downloaded this and tried it. i have to say...its really nice. kudos (did i actually just say something good about MS?)

When I think of graphics, MS is the very every last company I think of. They still, to this day, don't even keep their onscreen startup logo at 72 dpi, its at like 30 or something all blown up ugly!!!

Although I don't trust that Microsoft will not screw it up, Expression is an excellent piece of software - like Painter in quality and usability except it is all vector based and at least was much cheaper. I learned how to draw with this program. You can see some work I did with completely with Expression at

Also, is this a freeware version or a beta with an expiration date - it says both. I also didn't notice any new commands to warrant a .3 upgrade.
