Apple, Disney and iTunes

Apple and Walt Disney Records today announced that the entire catalog of Walt Disney Records, including soundtracks from its animated films and Storyteller Series, is available exclusively on the iTunes Music Store through September 30. A new Disney genre page has been added to the store with the albums.

    There you go

Well, all the iTMS naysayers said we need exclusive content, so there you go. Doesn't get much more exclusive or popular than that.

Gotta wonder if that Sept. 30 deadline is for the tracks to hit other online music stores as well, or if that's when Disney will "vault" the songs for a while, so they can scrounge more profits off of another generation of kids?

    CEO

Sept 30 must be the date that SJ is appointed iCEO of a merged Apple/Disney/PIXAR Empire!

    Heh! Good for Steve!

Trouble is, not a lot of people buy $250 iPods for their kids. The good news: we'll now be able to hear "The Bear Necessities" during iPod night at hip NYC clubs...

Wonder if this is in response to all the people bitching about apple not partnering with Real?

    iPods for Kids

Well, people might not buy iPods EXCLUSIVELY for their kids, but people DO burn CDs for their kids, and people DO use their iPods with home or car stereo equipment, so having tunes for the little kiddies is nice as well. And on vacation, an iPod with disney tunes could be nice in a hotel room or condo or something...

We'll probably buy a few. Problem is - we already have most of them on CD. ;)

    Damn Di$ney.

    I am shocked...

I definitely wouldn't have put it past Eisner to get back at the Pixar Jobs by way of partnering with M$oft against the Apple Jobs.

    Store's success

Disney is simply following the money. They have simply partnered with the #1 store, which happens to be Apple's. They don't have much to lose anyway, so why not give this business model a try.
