    Stunning

They're going to have to buy a new Fugly Stick for future apps. They clearly broke the one they had while beating these apps.

    hope they imitate apple

Here's hoping the Linux people take their cue in GUI and ease of use from apple, instead of M$...although I have a box running Linux for my girlfriend, KDE's GUI borrows heavily from winblows. Not really any worse to use than windows, but it could be sooo much better.

    but ....

they're open-source and after a few revisions, probably be OK.

Look at Microsoft ... after umpteen revisions to a product, it ain't that bad ... just too bad they have the money to TRY that many times!

    With Open-Source, I'm sure they'll get better.

    sigh

While pretty is a good thing, it doesn't matter for an OS like Linux that strives more for funtionality among power users than appeal to people who don't know how to use computers. That said, I love iTunes and I wouldn't use anything else anyway.

    Imitation...Flattery

They may be ugly, but there's definitely more than a passing resemblance to iTunes and iPhoto. Even Linspire's web site reflects Apple's, with the Aqua-ish tabs. At least they have good taste in the functionality they imitate...

Not necessarily. Open source developers (even more so than the standard app shops) go for functionality over form. So its "Let's pile more and more c*** into an app" and "Hey, we need to add some whacked out middle-click contextual menu that's user configurable by changing entries in a configuration file! Now that's what I call a feature!".

The first thing the Linux GUI crowd needs to do is find a better font. The one they currently use is so plain it makes my head hurt.
