IBM XL C/C++ Compiler

today released IBM's high performance XL C/C++ Compiler, Advanced Edition V6.0 for Mac OS X" "through its expanding OEM relationship with IBM. By adding XL C/C++ to its extensive line of products, Absoft further strengthens its position leading the software development industry by offering the most comprehensive and powerful line of compilers and related tools for desktop and workstation customers using Macintosh, Windows, and Linux operating systems." XL C/C++ Compilter is an optimizing command-line compiler derived from IBM's family of compilers used in larger AIX systems.

It offers compiler options, which allow users to tailor compilation-specific
needs and GNU C/C++ compatibility options ease existing code migration.

Absoft says the ease of using XL C/C++ will increase with the next release
of Absoft's comprehensive Integrated Development Environment (IDE). The IDE
adds a powerful programmer's editor, improved debugging capabilities, allows
easier builds and additional diagnostics in a native Mac environment.
Absoft Pro Fortran users will be able to use XL C/C++ and XL Fortran as
plug-ins with the next Pro Fortran release, scheduled to be available early
this fall.

The Absoft retail price for XL C/C++ Advanced Edition V6.0 for Macintosh OS X is $400 for commercial customers, $300 for government customers, and $200
for academic customers. XL C/C++ is compatible with Absoft's popular Fx debugger (a $300 value that is included for free in the bundle). A full year of Absoft technical support free for customers who buy XL C/C++ from Absoft.
