Shifting developer profile

Apple says it is seeing a definite , noting "a spike in the number of enterprise code writers [and] a large number of UNIX, Java and Open Source developers migrating to its Mac OS X operating system," according to InternetNews.com: "'This is a change from last year with our focus on enterprise and IT,' [Apple VP of Worldwide Developer Relations] Okamoto said. 'One of the things we're doing is adding content and laboratories with more education. We're adding to our tools space including an update of our Xcode development tool.'"

    Nothing to do with Apple

While Apple may want to try and attribute this to some strategy of theirs, Apple has not been assistive in any way in the migration. Essentially there are a large number of people who write UNIX/Linux code or maintain UNIX/Linux systems and a large number of them don't want to roll their own linux box - which makes the OSX platform very attractive.

Outside of the goodness that is OSX, to give any credit to Apple for the migration is 'reaching'.

    B*llsh*t

Nothing to do with Apple? That's rich! Yeah, Apple's done nothing to help developers except offering the X11 enviroment, offering the Qt libraries so you can run KDE, open sourcing the back end of their operating system and giving away the developer suite they use for their own internal stuff for free.

Yeah, come to think of it, Apple hasn't changed its tune at all. ROTFL!

    Re: Nothing...

Uh, yeah, and it was some other comapny that forced Apple to use a BSD as the basis for Mac OS X.

WTF are you talking about? Sheesh!
