Apple to open Kansas City retail store

Apple is looking for workers for retail positions in the Kansas City area, according to Monster.com and Apple's Jobs Web site. These postings indicate that Apple may be opening a retail location in Kansas City, at the Country Club Plaza. According to a MacNN reader, the Country Club Plaza is an upscale shopping district in Kansas City.

Shotgun ;-)
The Country Club Plaza is AFAIK the oldest shopping mall in America. Great move. I'd love to visit there sometime but I'm writing this in Japan...

I think a great spot on the plaza is where FAO was before it went under. That is a prime location for a store like this.

Can't think of any other place besides FAO it would go. I hope it's not as small as the St. Louis store. I was really disappointed by the size... I felt like I was in a Sprint store or something. I understand the size of the market dictates the size of the store, but I was disappointed nevertheless. The FAO store is bigger than the one in St. Louis, so maybe...

Where else would it go? Unless they closed Grand Falloon, which wouldn't be a bad thing in my mind at all.

I was down there this weekend doing some shopping and there really are not a lot of open locations down on the Plaza. FAO is a pretty big spot so that makes me think it may not be the Apple location but I am not sure. Regardless, I am very excited that my next Apple computer will come from that store.

I drove out there this weekend too, to see what I could see. FAO is completely empty, as are a few other locations. Another good spot would be the old Seville Square.

Was FAO on a corner?

I'm originally from KC but living in Tasmania and the last time I was back was Xmas 1995 and I can distinctly remember FAO being on a corner. That would be unique... and next door to The Sharper Image. I think Seville Square would be a bit tight.

I sent an email over to an agent that represents the Plaza and was told a lease has not been signed yet, so who knows where it is going to be.
