Apple extends deadline for redeeming Pepsi song codes

Apple has extended the deadline for redeeming winning codes found on Pepsi bottles in its Pepsi-iTunes giveaway--past the "Official Rules" deadline of March 31, 2004. MacNN readers have noted that users have been successfully able to enter codes today--one day past the official 3/31/04 deadline, while others say that Apple will allow users to redeem free song codes until the official promo ends on April 30th, according to a separate Pepsi-iTunes FAQ: "You must enter your code and download your song selection by April 30, 2004. All unused song credits will be void after April 30, 2004."

for the caps in So Cal. I was ready to buy Pepsi products to replace Coke just for the chance to win free music. I have not seen one cap anywhere in Orange County. We still have the Lakers promo going on here. The only place you have a chance to win free music is 7-11

I'm in Orange County too and I've noticed that the yellow caps (and not the NFL promotion) are finally showing up in stores around here. Many times you have to look to the back of a rack to find 'em, because the store wants to get rid of the older lakers bottles first. This may make it more difficult to do the whole "tilt" thing (because you have to reach way back for each bottle), if you're into that kind of thing, but it doesn't make it impossible.

You've *always* been able to redeem caps until the end of April - this is absolutely nothing new. The promotion "officially" ends today, but the caps can still be redeemed until April 30th - I even think the bottles say that. Heck, when you TYPE IN your code, it says at the bottom the credit will expire on April 30th.

Way to be on top of the game, MacNN. ;-)

On a related note, does clicking on "Redeem Song" in the iTMS giving a message saying it's unavailable? Slightly odd.

Apple had a dual deadline: one for redeeming codes (3/31/04) and one for redeeming song credits--received once you redeemed your code--04/30/04. Now Apple has a single deadline: 04/30/04.

They just arrived in California, so I would expect it to be extended into May, for all the remaining bottles of Pepsi in the pipeline...

You should call your local pepsi bottler and complain. They won't care, because more people are probably interested in the Lakers then some iTunes promotion. But the bottlers are the ones who determine what will/won't be on their bottles.

By the way, the tilt thing doesn't work anymore, as the caps around here are less translucent then before.

If you read the official rules it says the "Promotion Period" ends on 3/31/04 or until supplies last.

The Caps?

The tilt thing should work perfectly as long as the bottles are as clear as they've always been - what did tilting ever have to do with the caps being translucent?
