AAPL up on iPod report

Shares of Apple hit a new said "the company's new iPod mini digital music player has been a runaway success. The paper said the mini iPod is virtually sold-out, with nearly 100,000 snapped up since its launch two weeks ago:

"'I've never seen a product line sell like this," says Jack Wahrman, senior merchandising manager at New York's J&R Music World. "The iPod is a phenomenon.' On its Web site, Apple tells shoppers to expect a one- to three-week wait. 'We're asking people to be patient with us,' says Greg Joswiak, Apple marketing vice president. It's not a component shortage that's causing the backlog. "We're making and shipping them as fast as we can," Joswiak says. He says teens are taking to the cool colors. And the mini is appealing to athletic fans, who like exercising with an ultralight device."

    Son of a *bleep*!

And I sold my stock yesterday when it hit 25, expecting it to take another dip! I could have actually made a (very small) profit on some of that sale if I'd held out till today! I gues that's why I'm not a day trader :p

Actually, that was like almost 10% profit you could have made if you had held on a day. You couldn't get that in a savings account if you dreamed about it sunny boy, ha ha!

By the way, the iPod is a fad, cheaper more able imitators will follow soon, I mean how many more are all the fanboys going to buy: I say sell your apple stock as soon as it starts to turn.

    Re: iPod is a fad

I'm sure you're just trolling, but come on......... the iPod has long since passed "fad" status. I would buy that argument if interest in iPods died out after the first or even 2nd generation, or if the iPod mini release ended up falling flat. But it isn't. The iPod isn't just another digital music player, and certainly it has faced competition from companies selling products with more features and for less money......... and the fact that the iPod STILL dominates is a testament to what an excellent product it is...... that the iPod is not suffering the fate of other high priced yet excellent products shows just how special it really is. And the message of the iPod has gotten through to people...... people know they can buy other mp3 players for less money, but a lot of them still want iPods. And some people want them for different reasons. Some people love the functionality of the iPod, they love the scrollwheel and the iTunes synching. Some just love the general design. Either way, the iPod has established itself. It's been compared to Sony's seminal walkman, and I think this is a good comparison. The Walkman certainly wasn't the only device of its kind, and people could certainly get other portable radio and cassette (and eventually CD, minidisc, etc.) players..... but the Walkman brand was so strong that it was a huge deal..... it still is to some degree, but not quite what it was once.

    tiny little troll...

Actually, if you knew anything about finances you'd know that the amount of money earned in a savings acount and sellings stocks are different... Depending on this persons saving account, they could have easily earned more than than if they held onto their stock for another day. Basic finance.

"By the way, the iPod is a fad"

I won't even dignify this with a response. Two theories: One, you're a tiny little troll, and your handbuilt PC serves as a substitute for never getting with a girl. Two, you're a Mac fan who wanted to incite some people on this board. Your sitting at your desk, wasting time on a Friday afternoon.
