    Plenty good for voice…

This looks like a good thing to use for voice notes.

I wonder if it works with the iPod mini? If so, this will be great for my girlfriend's birthday: an iPod mini (green) and one of these recorder thingies.

    8Khz

I wonder if that was a typo? Should it have read 48Khz?
I found nothing about this on the Belkin site.

So, what's the top ADVANTAGE of this listed on the Belkin site?

NOT compatible with the iPod mini.

    Nuts.

    1, 2, 3, edit...

This looks like a ripe thing to use for voice notes.

I wonder if it works with the ripe iPod mini? If so, this will be great for my ripe girlfriend's birthday: a ripe iPod mini (green) and one of these ripe recorder thingies.

    low quality cuz

apple obviously dosent want you to be able to directly recort audio at high quality, as it may lead to piracy and they are trying to do everything they can to not make the ipod a piracy conduit. If it ever became one, the iTMS would die a horrible death once the riaa got pissed enough.

    My thoughts......

This thing is just RIPE for taking notes in college classes.

Or better yet for people doing interviews or other areas where an audio recorder would be useful.

I believe the 8 khz they are referring to is 8 khz is the top end of the
frequency response not the sampling rate - this would be acceptable
for voice dictation - probably 16-bits at 22 khz sampling rate is my
    guess.

    quality

there's battling piracy and then there's a $30 microcassette recorder is better quality. Piracy is a big issue if it's easy. Live recording isn't. You dl a song off kazaa or the like, you get a exact duplicate, provided the transfer doesn't error out. Analog recording like this device allows means you have to record in real time, relevel, trim, tag, and even then you (probably) only have one channel of audio.

    recording music?

recording music with 8khz audio? you might as well go to the grocery store with a battery powered cassette recorder and record the muzak and kazaa the h*** out of it.
