Over 1500 in line for Apple Store SF opening

Apple Store SF opens

Apple today openend its "hometown" Apple Store San Francisco. Over 1500 people were in line as of the opening--more than a dozen of whom camped out overnight. The store opened about fifteen minutes late--reportedly for waiting for the arrival of Apple CEO Steve Jobs who "was stuck in traffic", according to security officials. Ex-San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown performed the official ribbon cutting ceremony. MacNN was on hand, offering free food to those in line. We have posted an Apple Store San Francisco Opening Photo Gallery and MacNN reader Nathan Trebes has posted from line just before the opening Saturday morning.

Only 1500 people? h***, there's that many g** people getting married in san francisco. The whole ares has several million residents, and all Apple can muster is 1500 people? Gateway stores get that much when they're closed...

Yes, this store will fail, just as all of Apple's stores have. Why, not a day goes by where I don't hear about the closing of yet another Apple Store, due to the horrible, horrible failure of the Apple Stores in general. Mark my words, Apple may continue to open more stores that are instant failures, but one day, they will wake up and realize that they are simply doomed by continuing to do this.

The bags on ebay are unopened. Not very informative.

Here is what's in the ba

I just came from the San Francisco opening and the bag contains:

1. Wireless Mouse
2. Wireless Keyboard
3. Airport Extreme
4. iLife 04
5. Keynote
6. 10% Apple Discount Card
7. D-Link Bluetooth Adapter (the non-Apple product)

One lucky person got:

8. iPod 40GB (I don't know if someone got a mini iPod)

There is no iSight or Panther as previously speculated.

Hope this helps.
