    yeah right

First thing first, RIPE boy and "Your ... are belong to us" boy, get a life (and an education).
To business: there's no way apple is gonna wate it's chance of recuperating the investment on the iPod mini by going for it all over again just cos the new hard drive is smaller. However there is no chance like this for apple to finaly bring the newton back to life.

    Battery

Actually, this would be good news on the battery front. They could probably fit a slightly larger battery in there. I'm all for that. Same case, similar weight, more battery life.

    mini is FINE!

I had doubts about the mini, but when I played with one.... man, oh man they are NICE! And when my girlfriend mentioned wanting an mp3 player... her birthday is 3 weeks away... NO BRAINER, boys!

I'd like a mini for data transfers, the heck with compressed tunes. So, how about a higher capacity MicroDrive? Like, 6 or 8GB, is that too much to ask?

    Stack 'em!

Hey, if they come out with embedded MicroDrives, why not just STACK 'em up for more capacity?

$600 for the drive on it's own??? Makes $250 look like a value.

    re: wtf

If it's too small, buy two of them and strap them together.

    rip them out

and sell the drives for $600, that makes the ipod minis free plus you end up with cash in your pocket!
I've sold several already this way...
