Jobs calls Pixar most powerful brand in animation

Jobs boasts Pixar success

Apple/Pixar CEO Steve Jobs said last week that he felt Pixar had surpassed Disney as "" As momentum builds behind the convergence of technology and entertainment, Jobs finds himself on both sides of the divide. "Go back to the early '90s, and people were talking breathlessly about digital convergence, about Hollywood and Silicon Valley (coming) together. But what's been absolutely fascinating is that Steve Jobs is virtually alone (as someone) who has a deep credibility in Silicon Valley and deep admiration in Hollywood,."

    Jobs is right

... for now. If Disney can eber get its act together again, it would be a nice battle between Pixar and Disney. Who benefits? We do (if the movies are good.)

It's a good thing for Pixar that the movie industry dishes out the contracts. Also, one reason why Pixar isn't as well known is because of Disney being a glory hog. I read that there were issues with Disney not wanting any "Pixar" to show up in ads or in the credits.

    but it is.

Disney took far too much credit for the movies. I think Pixar owed a lot for the distribution and marketing attention originally with Toy Story, but they got that in the form of money and have continued this with Bug's Life, etc.

If you were doing all the work, wouldn't you get rid of the middle man. Pixar wouldn't have to work that hard to create distribution channels, etc. as people would be knocking on their door!

I agree. Every idio^H^H^H^H person I work with believes Finding Nemo, Toy Story, etc. were Disney movies.

    hey...

I thought Spumco was the most powerful and trusted brand in animation... or the guys who do "Aqua Teen Hunger Force"...

He DOES sound like he's starting to believe his own press clippings. Let him bring up the Mac's market share and THEN he can crow about his genius. Give a man enough rope and he'll hang himself...
