CNET on iPod Mini

CNET has published a , with much praise for the new device, calling it a "near-perfect MP3 player"--citing the lack of an FM radio, recording functions, and a nonreplaceable battery as shortcomings: "Although it scarcely seems possible, we think the Apple iPod Mini's design surpasses even that of its photogenic older sibling," the review says. The article praises the machined aluminum construction of the iPod, saying, "we felt as if we could stand on the device without consequence....the tastiest design treat to our palate is the revamped scrollwheel."

    the new scrollwheel...

is perfect. i prefer the interface of the original iPod to the current version, but the mini takes the best of both and does it VERY well.

    soooo tempting.

    s**** 'em

these people deserve no attention from any apple user regardless of positive/negative articles. like john dvorak, they have illogically and childishly lambasted all things apple for too long. i won't visit their site and read the article cause i don't play with immature buttholes.

    Build quality

"Apple constructs the body by hollowing out Mini-shaped aluminum tubes so that there are no seams in the construction, then applies the color during the anodization process so that it can't scratch off."

You can bet that those are two design points that the competition, in pursuit of a lower price, will miss time and time again.
