I'm surprised that this blackout has NOTHING to do with Microsoft one way or another.

    Story

I hate it when they report so many stories in the same paragraph. At first reading it sounds like Intel will release a laptop which corrects the programming error which caused the blackout last year (to which people should not send email) . . .

SEATTLE (Reuters) - One of the biggest winners in Comcast Corp.'s surprise $47.6 billion bid to buy Walt Disney Co.,, analysts said today, may be the silent partner looming in the wings, Microsoft Corp..

Since Microsoft already owns 7.4 percent of Comcast, it would end up controlling about 4 percent of the world's largest media company if Comcast's bid succeeds.

That stake could give Microsoft leverage over the course of the deal and afterward as it looks to push its software beyond the maturing market for personal computers and into the still-developing boom in digital entertainment, analysts said.

Microsoft has long sought to forge links in the telecommunications and entertainment industries in order to sell its software, leading some observers to question whether the world's largest software maker could emerge as a rival bidder for Disney.

With nearly $53 billion in cash, analysts said Microsoft could easily pay for a large media franchise, such as Disney, with cash or stock.

    Hmm

"I'm surprised that this blackout has NOTHING to do with Microsoft one way or another."

Thank God. I cannot stand zealots who think everything has to do with Microsoft-Intel-Dell conglomerate. Talk about insecure and paranoid.

Anyway, who would go to any random site and enter in their personal info i.e. e-mail. That is just plain stupidity.

    Revenge

Anyone know of a good site like this that I can submit some a******'s email address to and get him spammed? This guy really screwed me over, and it seems the only (albeit petty) way to do it.

    Just give it up, Intel!

Intel is just another company that innovates nothing. All they do is bump up clock rates and increase their marketing budget.

Every once in a while they try to come up with something revolutionary, and it goes nowhere. How about their "Aztec pyramid" concept PC from 1998, or any of the other lame designs from then? Yeah, those went far.

Intel just talks the talk-- Apple is the company that walks the walk.

    Re: Intel Desktop

I can't believe intel honestly thinks nobody can make a desktop out of a laptop and have it weigh "only eight pounds". Then again, this is the wintel world talking.

    Only 8 lbs?

h***, my 17" Powerbook got it beat by a pound, and to top it off, it has a widescreen, and is made of Aluminum. Oh and no viruses.

    Laughable

I really was laughing at Intel's "groundbreaking" design here. It's nice, but it's no different from any other all in one that uses an LCD. They're all light. This is no laptop, and you can't use it on a plane. It's just an all in one with a freakin' handle.
