    Opportunity knocking?

I bet now, lots of pc owners globally are now aching for an antirely new and yet reliable OS.

    re: opportunty knocking?

Hello, 98% of computer users who obviously have invested on a pc, are not blind enough to buy a new computer let alone migrate to an expensive system like the mac. They would rather wait for an update on the antivirus or a more radical approach is migrate to Linux. Sorry mac fans but these news doesnot provide a glimmer of hope to Apple's dwindling market share and sales.

    We've been lucky

All the major worm/email attacks have been just to exist, DDoS, or to install backdoor for spammers. Sooner or later, there will be one sent out that zeros as much data as possible, after sending copies of itself out. Since many uses run as Admin, this would be disastrous.

It's not going to be until one of these events that people start taking these things seriously.

    Dwindling market share

Umm, since when has Apple's market share and sales been "dwindling"??? Last time I checked, Apple's doing better these days than they have been in a long time. Ever since the iMac, Apple's been doing well.

    Don't deceive yourself

"I bet now, lots of pc owners globally are now aching for an antirely new and yet reliable OS."

Uh, you could have said that 6 months ago, 12 months ago, 18 months ago, etc. So while I agree with you on general principle, it has not happened and it is not happening.

So I guess I can expect you to repeat this *amazingly astute observation* every time something is wrong with Windows which is every other week.

Uh, since 1994 when its market share was 10%?

    k dumb-a**

That 98% is the percentage of pc's sold last year, it's not the pc marketshare. Macs have at least a 15-20% marketshare. That kind of thing isn't accurate because macs last several more years than pc's do so people upgrade less frequently.

    hey

there are many MORE computers now than there were in 1995. If Apple sells enough to have 1.8% marketshare, that is still a whole h*** of alot of computers.

    dumbass

I know several folks that use PCs. Some have considered buying into the Mac for their next purchase.

They end up buying PCs, because:

    1. They're cheaper.
    2. They think they are more compatible. (enen though many folks I know contact me to convert file formats they can't deal with.)
    3. They think they are more compatible with the software they use. Even though much of the software they use is pirated. We'll see how this works out when all of MS software is 'protected')
    4. They think they are getting good use out of a machine when I get several years more use out of the same Mhz speed machine.

    Go figure.
