iLife an \"amazing value\"

Connected Home has publisher an analysis of Apple's new , calling it an "amazing software value and a must-have application for all Mac users." While the suite still has some small flaws, columnist Paul Thurrott says Mac users should "run" to their "nearest Apple Store, CompUSA, or Apple dealer, and pick up this package immediately." Thurrott comments that "although you can often surpass the features and performance of iLife through separate applications, trying to assemble a software package that rivals iLife '04 would cost many times the iLife price."

    Weak Review!

Paul Thurrott is the last person I'd read a Mac related review from. The guy is a Microsoft lemming. Mr. Windows Super Site himself, paleezzee. What a tool.

    Thurrott: Nice try, a**.

Apparently the complete and utter REAMING Thurrott got over his recent hack jobs has caused him to reconsider his campaign of complete misinformation. Or perhaps he's just learned a hard lesson about the wrath of the Mac community when someone tries an unfounded, fact-challenged smear campaign (I know *I* tore him a new one, and let his corporate masters know about it, too).

Either way, he's still a very poor writer who really doesn't "get" his subject. I'm glad he likes iLife (someone please tell me how you could *not* like it -- $49?!), but he's still looking at it as five pieces of integrated software rather than as an *empowerment kit and creative engine,* which is what Apple intended.

This is one of those guys who will wax orgasmic the next time M$ updates Office as though it's the Second f****** Coming. You just wait and see.

Now Walt Mossberg, THERE'S a guy who knows how to review Win and Mac software and actually *grok* the difference (and give each their proper credit).

    Funny

Quote: "I'm not a musician, so I question the value of including an application such as GarageBand in iLife '04."

I don't drive cars. In fact I can't drive. Never had the desire to do so. But, somehow I do feel that cars are fairly useful things to have around. Even if they were bundled in iLife.

    Delay

I've been waiting for the localized version of iLife for a few weeks now and I'm must say the excitement has dropped I'm no longer sure I want to buy it. My point is I don't see why Apple keeps announcing new products available "now" (on the AppleStore I guess) only to find out they will only ship weeks later (instead of saying they will be available on a specific date).

    RIPE?

Where the h*** did this "RIPE" thing start anyway? Is it a reference to something? It's not the least bit funny. Even constant "All your [insert subject here] are belong to us!" posts would be less inane. Please be more creative.
