Apple, resellers fight over customers in Australia

Apple, resellers clash

Apple is with its direct sales strategy to enterprise customers in Australia, according to ARN: "One reseller claimed the vendor had poached $250,000 worth of its accounts in the last 12 months. Apple signalled its push towards direct enterprise business when it realigned its channel development team into a customer-facing professional services team, last year. Some resellers claim that the vendor’s push to get its business development team in front of customers is coming at a cost to partners."

    Good on Apple!

Those Australian resellers are sitting on their past and charges a premium for a product that is rapidly moving into the mainstream. To add, their service turn-around is pathetically slow. I think this is just the type of competition they need to keep them awake. If they feel that they can't survive with Apple Store sitting on their butt, then it's high time they should restructure and rework their business model.

    Same old, same old

Jobs was famous for s******* VARs in the NeXT days too. NeXT sales people would always try to poach customer lists so they could go directly to the biggest customers.

Perhaps you'd think about that again the next time you want an accessory for your Mac, only to find that all the resellers have been knocked out of business and the only place you can buy any Mac kit is at the Apple online store?

    Ummm....

If Apple was happy with the amount good and services they were selling, then they wouldn't have moved forward. Wake up and smell the capitalistic coffee!

    Australian resellers

Many Australian resellers are arrogant arseheads. Next Byte the biggest of them.

Pity is, the people at Frenchs Forest (Apple.au) aren't much better.

    No really..

I got a fax from NextByte today, advertising their great specials and discounted prices for demo and late model macs. For a *USED* PowerMac G5 (dual 2.0ghz), they wanted $200 more than the education price for a NEW one.
