    The Spin on Prescott

How long as Intel been at 3.2GHz? A year? Mind you the 3.4GHz they mention is not yet available. Kind of reminds me of when the G4 was stuck at 500Mhz.
They run hotter than previous P4, and are slower. Yet all the PC weenies are all saying "it will scale higher than Northwood would ever go." Apple should just steal their thunder by annoncing new faster Mac's tomorrow.

    phones

Am I the only one who thinks cameras, videos, games, and loud, stupid ringtones are a waste of money? Surveys in the UK have shown that even young consumers don't want 3G extras, just a phone. Give me a PDA phone with BlueTooth so I can iSync it, and keep the bells and whistles, please.

    one day...

...someone will create a virus that erases every windows-based computer on the planet, at once. when the smoke clears, the only folks to be left standing will me those who use some sort of linux-variant (including mac os x), unix, or DOS (or, well, the fifteen people clutching their amigas and beboxes for dear life...)

    Gosh

had to fix my mothers windows me box. It was packed with viruses and spyware. I just dont understand how people can live with windows. The box barely operated. She did not even know where programs saved files and was afraid to reinstall windows.

I figure most users are like that. All of them have mydoom. Or is mydoom really skybet? ;)

I think the experts had assumed a least some users had learned their lesson when it comes to executing arbitrary code, which is a big no-no regardless of platform... unfortunately most users seem to be doing the same stupid c*** as always.

    Just over half a year.

"Mind you the 3.4GHz they mention is not yet available."

Actually the P4c 3.4GHz has been shipping for a little while now. It goes for around $425.

"Kind of reminds me of when the G4 was stuck at 500Mhz."

Except that that was around 18 months, and there was actually a regression to 450MHz for a while... ouch. Your also forgetting Intel's crazy expensive, though impressively performing, stopgap P4 Extreme Edition was shipped in two speed grades in the interim between 3.2 and 3.4GHz.

    another bad phone article

let me sum it up for you. new cellphones will have more useless features so the phone companies can charge you more. industry spokesmen agree.

    MyDoom

This virus, MyDoom...course it's great having a Mac and not having to worry about it, but I cheer for it tomorrow. I hope it brings microsoft.com down. I will check in on the website as much as I can during the day just to see what happens. If I had a PC, of course it'd never be used but I would this virus to be on my system so that I could say that my PC would be one of the many in the battle tomorrow. Hope MyDoom takes that site down!
