    Let... me.. understand..

    ...this.

Company develops "pay" web browser, that works fine unpaid. They sell copies to loyal fans at inexpensive prices for ages. Much better free alternitives (Safari, Firebird, Mozilla) show up, as web browser development slows to crawl. New version finally comes out - and those loyal fans who use and paid for software don't get a free upgrade. Nice work guys. Won't be coming back again.

    Encrypted Disk Image

Just downloaded it to give OmniWeb a try again. I cannot mount the disk image without a password.

Maybe it's not a "public" beta quite yet or MacNN linked to the wrong file.

    Re: Encrypted

Well, MacNN didn't tell us that we have to go to the OmniWeb 5 Public Beta page (link available at the top of this page) to see the password. I won't post it here. The OmniGroup wishes that people read their disclaimers before installing.

    Interesting concept

I like the features that Omniweb has developed... I think that this could really be worth $30 all things considered... but as it stands, OW5 seems to run really quite slowly on the machine I have here at work... 800 Mhz G4. Also, a bunch of rendering issues on pages that Safari hasn't had problems with.

I'll see how it is when I get home, but it seems pretty rough around the edges right now.

    Great App

Looks great, the tab implementation is cool. The Javascript Console is very welcome.

Hey now, why the abuse? Just because you can't see the other guy doesn't make it OK to cut him down.

Do you work at your job for free? No, then why do you expect Omni developers to work for free?

Do you think that because someone once paid $30, then they get free upgrades for life? How does that economic model work?

    Crash Catcher...

Every time I launch it...unless it cannot handle if two other browsers are open at the same time. Weak.

    great browser!

i gave up OW 4 for Safari because tabs were so useful, but OW 5 is a very strong feature upgrade, worth the money (the upgrade is $10 i believe -- a pittance).. i won't judge this beta on crashes -- those will get cleared up.. i'm really glad to get back the flexible management of cookies, ads, etc., and the new "tabs" and page memory are brilliant
