iPod used in \'Rings\'

Several readers note that in the making The Two Towers and The Return of the King: "Compact, sweet by design and capable of delivering precious goods to far-flung destinations, Frodo is to Middle Earth what Apple's iPod is to modern-day digital media. Just as Frodo exists basically to transport that precious ring to where it needs to go, 'Rings' master Peter Jackson found a way to make Apple's iPod all about helping him get his digital dailies where they need to go, namely halfway around the world."

    2 Questions

    1. Is this iPodNN now? I thought there might be something about the Mac here.

    2. Do these people understand that it's also possible to get a higher-capacity portable hard drive in a small case with a Firewire interface WITHOUT an MP3 player in it?

    Pixlets?

Do you think they used the Pixlet codec? It's supposed to be movie-grade.

    Macs shut out on DVDs

While Peter Jackson used Macs and iPods to produce LOTR, the DVDs have features that are available only to Windows users.

    Load of the Tolet Rings

Yeah, what da ? Thats such a crapper....why can't the movie industry support compatable DVDs so us Apple fans aren't shut out? What would have happened if there was no Apple, Final Cut Pro, etc.. in the video industry? Could you imagine? Your trailers would be floaters, and no amount of Liquid Plumber would get the clog out left from the worst hair-brained software and systems left in place. I seen Amiga years ago, and I thought it sucked, while everyone else thought it was the best. Now loook what we have, Amiga res-erection is dead, and the rest, other than the high-end machiones, are no where to be found......

    Welcome to mac self-help

Oh god, here we go again. Welcome to mac self-help. Your lame-a** story for today: another mac sighting! People actually use apple products! Yay!

"See? Our 3% market share isn't so bad! Peter Jackson uses iPods!"

lol. Please stick to posting something that's actually news. Why the f**k should anyone care that LOTR used iPods? Are you going to start reporting EVERY TIME someone uses a portable firewire drive?

"George Lucas touched a mac mouse today! Release the fireworks!" ROFL.
