MCE ships QuickStream Lithium-Ion Battery Pack

MCE Technologies today announced a rechargeable QuickStream Lithium-Ion Battery Pack (QSBP) for the QuickStream DV, its FireWire DV Capture Device. The small, lightweight batter pack mounts directly to the QuickStream DV and provides an additional 3.5 hours of continuous recording time (for a total of five hours of continuous portable recording). In addition to the battery pack, MCE also announced that its free DV clip management software, MCE StreamManager, is now localized for six languages: English, Japanese, Spanish, French, German, and Russian. Both the QSBP ($100) and StreamManager 1.0.1 (free) are available immediately.

The QSBP supplements the 90 minutes of recording time already provided by the QuickStream DV's built-in Lithium-Ion battery. It adds less than an inch to the height of the QuickStream DV, weighs about 4 ounces, and mounts directly to the QuickStream DV via its 1/4-20 accessory mounting socket. The QSBP also features a 1/4-20 accessory mounting passthrough socket so that the QuickStream DV can still be used with the included accessory shoe (hot shoe) adapter for mounting the QuickStream DV on camera or with the included belt-clip.

Additionally, the
QuickStream Battery Pack has integrated charge indicator LEDs, so you will
always know precisely how much battery life is left. The QuickStream Battery
Pack includes a cable for connecting it to the QuickStream DV, a universal
AC charging adapter, and an auto-adapter for charging the Battery Pack using
a car or battery belt's cigarette lighter receptacle.

The QuickStream DV's bundled DV clip managing software, MCE StreamManager, which has the ability to autolaunch immediately once a QuickStream DV has been detected on the FireWire bus, has been updated to include support in six languages. If a user's operating system is set to function in one of the supported languages, then MCE StreamManager will properly display all menus and buttons in the users selected language.
