It's "restoration". Nice editorializimation.
remember keynote in its first incarnation? see it now?
i'm guessing once they see the hue and cry from the 95% of eligiible mac users who don't have 1G g4s, we'll see some tweaking. Anyone know if Garageband is a bought and retooled app or did apple create this from scratch?
Apple needs to post how to run iDVD on an external DVD burner. Too many people have bought G4 iMacs without SuperDrives to continue to deny them the ability to make DVDs. The answer shouldn't be "buy a new Mac".
What incentive would Apple have to make iDVD work with external drives? 'buy a new mac' is the best answer they should give.

I was just about to comment on the same thing. :)
No, "buy a new Mac" is the WORST answer, and a sure way to piss people off and be accused of bait-and-switch. It smacks too much like a greasy used car dealer luring you into the showroom to look at one thing, then jacking up the price once you're in the store.
Let's see....to run this $49 piece of software I have to purchase a $1300 computer?
Oh yeah, that'll please a lot of customers...
iDVD is part of a $50 package. If divided equally - it costs $10. The profits from SuperDrives are subsidizing its development. If Apple were to support external drives they would have to charge $50 or more for *just* iDVD, to pay for it's development.
Just look at the price of Windows DVD authoring packages. They cost a lot more than $10.

Bait and switch? How could they be baiting and switching here? It says plainly (and everyone knows, because its what everyone whines about) that an internal Apple supplied superdrive is required. They don't support third-party drives at all (internal ones may work, but that's up to you to get it to work). You want third-party support, get it from (a) DVD Studio Pro, or (b) a third party company, like Toast! You're just being cheap because you want to use the cool inexpensive software without paying for the expensive hardware for which iDVD is used to try to sell.
BTW, when I got a CD-RW drive for my PC at work, the copy of Nero it came with only works with that drive, no other drive maker. How come no one whines about that kind of thing? Oh, that's right, your Mac users, you expect Apple to give you everything you want for free.
I got the Garageband 'hard disk too slow' message last night. :( I'll try some of their recommendations.

Easy... Don't use Win ME
Windows ME is probably the most odd flavour of the Win9x clan. I used to have the most erratic networking issues with that version. If you must run Windows, stick to XP. If your hardware is old, stick to Win98. Ready to upgrade, get a Mac.
