New store in Jacksonville
Apple will open in a multi-million dollar project, which will feature a number of upscale stores: the St. John's Town Center will open in Spring 2005, according to the Jacksonville Business Journal: "Developers of the $300 million St. John's Town Center mixed-use project announced plans for the 200-acre site's retail tenants, with smaller, trendy shops surrounding a Dillard's department store in the development's first phase."
"Though the center will feature such discount retailers as Staples and PetsMart, most of the announced stores are smaller, higher-end shops specializing in trendy merchandise. Ben Carter Properties LLC of Atlanta and Simon Property Group of Indianapolis, the two partners on the project, announced the following retailers, among others, have either committed or are close to committing to leases at the St. John's Town Center, scheduled to open in Spring 2005: Urban Outfitters, J. Jill, J. Crew, Ann Taylor Loft, Restoration Hardware, Aeropostale, Hollister, Apple, Coldwater Creek, Guess, Sur La Table, Sharper Image, and Dick's Sporting Goods, an outdoor equipment retailer that will occupy a two-story building." 2005?
Yeeaayyyy... oh, 2005??? 5???? Sigh. Great news, but we in the Panhandle need an Apple presence now... There is no Apple presence anywhere near the Destin/Ft Walton/Niceville area.. Allot of schools, military, and tourism in this area, and we don't even have a CompUSA within a 2 hr drive from here. Nearest Apple store will be in Atlanta untill 2005 (Yes, Atlanta is closer to us than Tampa)... Sigh.
