updated 12:55 pm EST, Sun January 18, 2004

LiliPod iPod case

Eroch Studios has introduced the LiliPod, a new water-tight iPod case: the allows "you to safely listen to your iPod during activities never previously possible--from skiing to sailing mountain biking to beach bumming, and everwhere in between. The watertight future of iPod protection has arrived. And it's arrived in swanky style." It offers an 1/8-inch watertight stereo connector, a Sterling Rope lanyard (made of moisture-resistant DryCore and with cord lock), a compression clamp, and rubber o-ring. It is available now for $35.

    Does it fit a 1st G iPod?

Can use with my "old" iPod, 5Gb 1st generation iPod?

I read through the entire site, and as for right now, it doesn't accomodate the older iPods (2nd and 3rd gen). Nor is one available for the new miniPods (but I bet they'll be working on that one soon as it's a perfect fit for that model...

    Pod on!

To clairify, I believe it only fits the thinner (5Gig to 20Gig) models of the 2nd and 3rd generation. There's mention that it fits only the slim models that utilize the Docking Station.

    Sorry for any confusion...

    Headphones?

There's a photo on the site of a guy with his head in the pool. Where'd he get the waterproof headphones/buds? Unless I'm missing something, you can't do much without them.

    All 3G, others customized

I emailed the website and they say it fits even the thicker 3G:
"But the Lilipod fits all iPods with the dock connector (including your 30). Or can be custom fitted to accept the originals."

    Waterproof buds

Has anyone seen any waterproof buds/headphones? I'd expect the Apple in-ear headphones(maybe upside down) to be more waterproof than the original earbuds.

    Hmmm

My only confusion is the headphone connector shown on the pic. Sure it's watertight where the connector meets the iPod, but what about the end where you plug in your headphones? Wouldn't you need something to make a tight fit between the end of your 'phones and the connector? (Unless you're going to just wrap the connection in scotch tape?)
