    good bye iphoto

I think iphoto for free is over. So now I can switch to applications that offer more: iview mediapro, adobe photoshop elements.

    Panther?

Does Panther now include the updated versions of iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD? It would be silly to have someone upgrade to Panther with a set of applications that are already obsolete.

    Not free?

Seeing as the current version of iPhoto doesn't work worth a damn with more than a few hundred photos, I feel that Apple should give me the upgrade for free. Wasn't one of the the big reasons for buying a Mac the awesome iApps that come BUNDLED with the computer?! First Mac.com, now the iApps - next thing Apple will charge me when I wipe my iAss!

    I only hope...

iPhoto 04 manages image files the way iTunes does. If it still organizes files by date and labels all files with crypic names, creating aliases for each image in the process, iPhoto will remain as useless to me as it is now.

    A fine whine.

You don't like iPhoto? Don't use it!

This is troll territory, I fear.

    upgrade pricing?

Is there upgrade pricing for current iLife customers?

I think if you purchased hardware or Pather within the last 6months they should charge either EDU pricing or $19.99 for the upgrade or some sort of discount.

    Hmf.

iPhoto 3 was really unusable. Apple should make this a free update, like 10.1 was to the unusable 10.2, and then start charging from there on.

Yes - and the troll is you. With your absurd reductionist argument, you have completely eliminated the role of the consumer in driving the marketplace. When consumers complain and ask for more and better apps, the suppliers (read - Apple) often respond in kind. Sit back, say nothing and get nothing - good idea, right?!

Whoa, I didn't know I was a reductionist. Do you often make up words to serve your purposes?

I simply was saying that people whining about paying for an amazing app like iPhoto is stupid. It's worth the price to upgrade.

BTW, I've complained to Apple many times about various issues...but not in this forum. This is the wrong place. Obviously you just like to b****.
