Toast with Jam 6

today unveiled Toast with Jam 6, a new version of its CD and DVD burning software that features enhanced studio quality audio tools. Toast with Jam 6 combines Toast 6 Titanium with Jam 6 mixing and mastering software, BIAS Peak Express stereo editing software, and Dolby Digital sound encoding software. It is due in March for $200, while Jam 6 upgrades will be $100 for Toast 6 owners. A $30 rebate is available to other registered owners.

The new suite allows Mac users to burn and share data, audio, photos or video easily with Toast 6; edit and enhance music files using Peak Express; and create DVDs with Hollywood-standard Dolby Digital sound quality with up to 30 minutes more video, and create DVDs with hours of full-quality music and on-screen menus for easy navigation.

Jam 6 is Roxio's DJ-style mixing and mastering software that create mixes with DJ-style cross-fades; it can burn 100% Redbook masters. Version 6 offers updated and integrated burning directly from Jam and more flexible cross-fading options and improved interface. The included Bias Peak Express stereo editing software can enhance and clean audio files and video soundtracks; it supports Mac OS X Audio Unit effects and includes VST plug-ins and filters to enhance sound quality.

The suite also includes Dolby Digital Sound, the Hollywood-standard encoding and decoding software. Users can fit up to 30 minutes more video on a DVD while maintaining fidelity and can integrate existing Dolby Digital content in Toast video projects. DVD Music Album allows users to deliver hours of music on a single DVD. It can create on-screen menus for fast navigation and song information, offers drag & drop integration with iTunes, offers full-quality audio or theater-rich Dolby Digital sound, and creates discs that are compatible with standard DVD players.

Roxio will preview Toast with Jam 6 during the Expo at Booth No. 2339.

    No Toast?

"Version 6 offers updated and integrated burning directly from Jam"

Does this mean we can purchase Jam without Toast, or that Jam will function without Toast?

    Re: No Toast

I hope Jam 6 will be a stand-alone application like it was before. I don't see what's interesting about exporting a playlist and burn it from Toast. Great app anyway

    upgrades...

It's annoying that Roxio offers cross-grade discounts from Toast to Jam, but has never offered an upgrade discount from older versions of Jam. I've been using Jam since it was owned by Adaptec, but have had to pay full price for every new Roxio version. Grrr.
