podboard: new iPod stand made in Switzerland

updated 03:20 am EST, Mon January 5, 2004

podboard iPod stand

is a new iPod stand. The stainless steel stand is made in Switzerland. It supports all iPod models and lets owners create their own skin (i.e. with calendar, ruler, phone numbers) and share it with others. It is available for pre-order for 44 Swiss Francs (about $35) and will begin shipping on January 20, 2004.

    Finally...

...something worthy of a component stereo setup - kudos to the Swiss - hopefully some less cartoony 'skins' will be donated to match...

    Not bad.

Does it act as a rechargable dock?

Looks like it would be a pain to get the iPod in and out. Probably only for music geeks who want to show off their iPod.

    Idiot Design of 2004

This one will be the first candidate for Idiot Design of the Year.

    Let's see...

No provision for "Line Out"... so why would you want it next to a stereo.

Skins... WOW... but YOU have to print them and GLUE them to the thing. So if you want to change back to stainless... buy a new Podboard.

Nice Stainless clips to securely hold the iPod... can't wait to see the scratches from sliding the thing in and out.

So, basically it's $35 for a bent piece of stainless with a cutout.

Swiss Design is going downhill rapidly!

    re:idiot design

Although I wouldn't go so far to call them idiots, for your statements regarding this device, I agree, this is bad.
