Apple quality problems?
Several readers note that Reuters (republished by ) has published an "inaccurate" article on the recent iPod and iBook quality problems: "First, it knocks Apple's market share down to 2%. It goes on full of slanted hooey, and wraps up with stating that Apple's $99 iPod battery replacement was offered only after the ipodsdirtysecret.com web site came out, which is flagrantly untrue. The article makes no mention of the other battery replacement options that have always been available, or of the fact that ipodsdirtysecret.com now features a statement that Apple's warranty and replacement services are fair."

I recently bought a powerbook an during the course of getting use to it I've been reading various MacCentric sites and I've come to the conclusion that the media isn't just stupid when it comes Linux but to Mac's as well. Sheeh what a article. :(

don't trust the media. i've sais it before and i'll say it again. all you get from so-called "unbiased" news channels like CNN is filtered, altered and otherwise processed or even produced. in order to get the whole/correct picture you'll have to get your news from multiple sources, and i'm not talking about NBC or any other (american) maintream media empire that is controlled by big business.

and the same goes for all lies cooked up about Iraq and US "operations" in foreign countries. It is a good thing to remind oneself of this. Sadly enough, it is not only in the context of Apple...

Apart from the "Market Share and ipod battery replacement 'lie", here is some reality. Apple did respond to the ipod incident after it was reported that a suit was being sought about the battery issue, possibly coinciding with ipodsdirtysecret. Thats a fact -deal with it. Apple obviously didn't offer this "battery replacement options have always been available" until after the bad press.
Apple apologists need to get a grip. Apple is being sued over this ipod issue (several sites are reporting a lawyer has already been obtained). On the heals of this is the monster problem Apple has on it's hands about the ibook issues (logic boards and screens), which techical information both on Macintouch and Macfixit state there are "serious" design flaws, contributing directly to the failure.
Apple quality issue over the last few years is suspect, 15" Powerbook "white spots", ibooks, going all the way back to the 5300/190's, the Duo's, etc. And if you want "lies", the G3/OSX compatibility promise was (don't even try), a flat lie. Apple had to get sued just to admit it.
Yet these apologists would rather strain out a knat and swallow a camel that accept that anyone should dare "Speakest Blasphemy Against the Deity!!"
Get over it - Apple had better get it's act together on this. They have problems with their products, and denying it, ain't fixing it.

" Yah and they also responded WAY before they got the bad press from anyone. but being that you obviously did no research, you didnt know that. none of the sites that were bringing this issues about were saying anything about how apple already was on top of it. if they would have said apple wa son top of things already then they wouldnthave a nice little bashing story now would they. the G3 settlement was the only true bad press apple deserved, because they werent on top of that. and no one is an apologist here, but we aint gunna let someone bash on something if they are wrong.

The iPod battery replace program was started months before ipodsdirtlylittlesecret and bad press ever started.
Ignorance is bliss for some people. At least know your facts before spouting off.

And this would explain why Apple's quality level has been ranked higher than any other PC manufacturer for the last two years???
Please please please, get a clue.

What I find amazing is that no article are ever published about PC issues. Dell, Gateway, HP, etc;, all have made computers and products that weren't up to par - yet the media isn't about to jump on them.
If anything, it's a compliment. Since Apple's products have great quality, if anything does even go wrong... the world comes to an end. If your PC breaks, it's just typical PC life.
