Smaller, cheaper iPods?

Following at Macworld Expo San Francisco as well as revamped version of its iLife Software: "In addition to the lower-cost iPods, Cupertino, California-based Apple is also expected to unveil them with different colors and even in stripes, as well as variously colored cases for Apple's traditional iPod."

    whatever works baby

I think a 5GB ipod for under 200 is a great thing - they must be seeeing the original 5s going for that much on ebay and thinking... why not us!
I have an original 5, it still works, i haven't maxed it out yet, i'm sure there's lots of people who are in the same boat. Good for them. If you don't like the colors, buy white.

    Is this whole thing...

just based on Jobs' comment from a few months back saying that he would love to sell the iPod for $100 but that they can't figure out how to make them so cheap? And what would the interface be like on a miniPod?

As far as the colors - I think that's a natural progression given the iPod/iTunes Music store advertising campaign. Personally, I'd rather have a 50GB iPod. I don't want to have to choose what to bring with me.

    Sony Ericsson

The colors sound like perhaps the influence of Sony Ericsson. Check out the z600...colors and stripes. What would be a GREAT idea is changeable face plates. Cell phone makers have made this a great source of extra revenue. For users, it allows you a way to refresh your unit or get a cover without scratches, etc, for under $30.

    Flash based?

For me the current iPods are too much - I don't doubt they are good value, I just dont exprect to carry that much music with me.

But a smaller capacity with Flash based storage and the current UI - well, I'd then be very interested.

I've only got about 5 gig of mp3s, and I wouldn't need to carry them all around with me. A 2 gig ipod would be great for me... h***, I've been making due with a 32 MEG Rio player for the last several years, so this would be great!

SE influences next iPod? Um, no. Perhaps you forget that Apple produced fruity iMacs many, many computer years beforehand.

Would probably tend to the bold. Like the current ads.
