Apple will continue its by allocating $160 million to capital expenditures in fiscal 2004, roughly $85 million of the total for retail expansion, according to the Sacremento Business Journal: "In fiscal 2003, Apple had $164 million in capital expenditures, including $92 million for retail stores and equipment. The 2003 investment added 25 retail stores during 2003 for a total of 65 as of Sept. 27, up from 40 in Sept. 2002 and 8 in Sept. 2001. Apple added 9 more stores in the first quarter of fiscal 2004, including its first international store, in Tokyo's Ginza shopping district."

    Canada

They'll probably open Apple Stores in Vancouver and Toronto (Eaton's Center, likely), but I wouldn't be surprised if they hold off on Montreal until they are also prepared to launch a store in Paris.... retail operators often co-ordinate marketing materials and signages in French between MTL and Paris operations.

    Who cares?

I'm really confused by who planned this expansion over the years. The fact that there are stores in nowhere towns like Des Peres, Missouri and Wauwatosa, Wisconsin... yet they ignore the 3.5+ million people of Toronto is both insulting to us, and baffling in general. Apple has both a larger marketshare in Canada -and- the opportunity of being near one of North America's largest universities (U of T)... yet I'm still stuck buying machines for my business from questionably authorized 3rd parties or waiting for the Apple Store to deliver.... not to mention the fact that everytime there is an event we have to drive to Buffalo to catch it on their Apple Store's sat feed. This is getting pretty lame.

Yeah sure you dont have apple stores. And sure you poor things have to drive across the border to see the stream. What about us non north americans who dont have access to anything like that??
