    Their Response

"This decision is inconsistent with both the views of Congress and the findings of the district court. It unfortunately means we can no longer notify illegal file sharers before we file lawsuits against them to offer the opportunity to settle outside of litigation. Verizon is solely responsible for a legal process that will now be less sensitive to the interests of its subscribers who engage in illegal activity."

In their view a "suspected copyright violator" cedes all constitutionaly guaranteed privacy and anyone who has access to their personal information has a lawful responsibility to help them (RIAA). Congress does NOT want this.
Imagine I am a cable company and I "think" you might be stealing cable by hooking up a second TV. The RIAA thinks that your landlord should be forced to videotape your home activities (since he has access to you) and give me the tape. When he balks at this, the RIAA says he is at fault when they kick in your door.
    Thugs.

    Microsoft doing...

...what Microsoft does best, Bankrupting other companies. Except this time they will be doing it to somebody we all hate.

    One big, fat juicy...

F.U. to the RIAA and their semi-fascist tactics.
Right idea... wrong way to implement it...and now they get to reap the rewards for their ignorance.

    Good and Good

Hey, MS using it's muscle and skill in beating up on smaller companies (read: everybody) for good! Will wonders never cease! For once, I hope they win in a big way.

As for the RIAA, finally a glimmer of hope that the'll be some defense against their insurrection against their own customers. I stopped buying CDs several years ago when they started hassling even semi-legit online use and online radio stations, and after what they've done I'll never buy a major-label CD again.

I wish there was a list somewhere of which companies really deserved to be boycotted, but unfortunately with the reach of the RIAA I have a feeling it'd probably include just about everyone.

    Spam

The only spam I get is from M$ urging me to install their latest and greatest security update. Totally useless for a mac user! Anyone know how I can get off their list?
