    Installed

Nothing seems to be different, aside for my uptime being zero again.

    Snappier!(TM)

Just kidding... I haven't even gone downstairs to retrieve my iBook and install it.

I just wanted to be the guy to say it, for once.

    Biggie...

40MB is pretty hefty for a first-draft upgrade like this (10.3.1 doesn't count, since that was more of an emergency patch).

I'll bite the bullett as an early adopter this time, because I want to know if it'll fix the berserk netstat problem I've been having with my dual G5--seems like it ONLY affects dual G5 owners, in fact.

I hope it improves windows networking, as well--Panther's close, but the funkiness so far make it worse on average than Jag.

    iTunes Fixed

Seems to have fixed the delay bug I would get in iTunes.

    Optimising the Volume?

I haven't noticed this specifically before - as the update finishes installing on my iBook, it says

"Optimising Volume "Macintosh HD": xx% complete"

I'm sure that in the past it hasn't said exactly that - wasn't it more like Optimising System, or something similar?

Is it really now optimising the whole disc? Guess I'll start it up with Tech Tool Pro 4 and see what it says.

    Unsnappier

My iBook 800MHz/640MB takes significantly longer to boot now. The menu extras appear one by one in the upper right corner of the desktop, then the menu bar actually fades in behind it, and then the icons come up. Pokey!

I've zapped PRAM and repaired permissions, and it's still slow.

I see from other sites that I'm not alone. Dammit.
