Evening tech news: Downloading music through peer-to-peer services in Canada now enjoys regulatory approval, but that may do little to prevent the music industry from " bill today, creating the first federal law regulating junk email, a move backers say will be a major step in the war against e-mail solicitations for pornography, diet pills, get-rich-quick schemes, medication, and the like.

    Last year I signed up for the Bush Cheney email news letter and used (as I always do) a fake name. I do this specifically because I want to see who is selling their list. Since then I have consistently received approximately 25-30 emails per day offering me better mortgage rates, natural viagra, and "work-at-home" opportunities.

    It's probably because Bush and Cheney need viagra. I don't think they need a better morgage rate, they are rich enough. As far as "work-at-home" opportunities are concerned, we'll have to wait for the next presidential election to find out...
