Phlink, Indigo scripts

Perceptive Automation and Ovolab today released a , Ovolab's telephony product for Mac OS X: "Using Indigo together with Ovolab Phlink, you can have total control over your house from anywhere in the world. Warm up the hot tub from your mobile phone, turn off the lights, and more."

Ovolab Phlink automatically answers telephone calls and identifies the caller based on Caller ID. Callers can interact with Ovolab Phlink by pressing touch tone key sequences, which in turn trigger actions in Indigo.

Indigo ($90) then communicates with devices throughout the house by using X10 technology. Indigo then dynamically builds and speaks a menu of options over the phone, based on your home control setup. Through this menu, you can turn devices on and off, brighten or dim lights, and hear the status of devices, including the brightness of light and lamp modules. Additionally, the dynamic menu allows you to execute Indigo Action Groups, which are macro sequences of home control actions such as lighting scenes.

Ovolab Phlink can allow access to Indigo functions to specific callers only, or it can require the caller to enter a password for additional security. Phlink (€100) can also serve as an intelligent information center and as a answering machine.

    so what happens if

your DSL router needs to be restarted, or the electricity goes out - can this program also do that for you when you're in Thailand?

    Restarting the router

Sure, using Ovolab Phlink you can dial into your Mac from any telephone in the world (no computer required!), and have it restart your router.

    Ah...

Because it dials over the phone line, not over TCP/IP internet protocol. Pretty nifty!
