Half of these apple site hits are probably iTunes Music Store hits. I do know more and more are buying apple products. It's on a big roll.

Apple had 53% more traffic than Dell, but how much of that traffic was to view QuickTime movie trailers? How much of it was to download Quicktime or iTunes?

Apple has a lot more going on on their site than just hardware sales, so this shouldn't be too surprising.

scmurpective. Those same people were visiting Apple before (like last month) and there was no increase. This month (Christmas shopping season) there's a spike. Maybe more people will be getting Apple gear for Christmas.

Dell only stopped sending large corporate support overseas. Normal consumers will still (and now probably more often) be sent to India.

Half the people who work in silicon valley are Indian (well the talented ones anyhow), and dude, forget that any computer is assembled in the US, cause apart from maybe a few falling to pieces no-name lame performance PC's there ain't any.

Face the facts all you losers have got is money, and now that you realised that its even cheaper not to giv'em green cards in the first place, you whine.

Apple didn't cheat on the numbers, that's idiotic. Nielsen/NetRatings was tracking their hits, that can't be faked. QT trailers don't come out every day, so I doubt that spiked their hits more in one month then the rest of the year. iTunes for windows and their recent ad campaign is getting the word out.

Why would they do that? Macs start out at $799. That should not be a shocking price for anyone.

When Apple turns those clicks into sales, then that'll be good.

I think each of us should persuade at least one other person to buy an Apple product this Christmas.

Not exactly. Dell announced that they would stop using the India company for their "top of the line" premiere corporate level tech support. The vast majority of Dell tech support will continue to use the company in India.

How do they measure hits? Are they looking at solely store.apple.com (what I'd consider to be the "e-commerce" site) or Apple.com as a whole.
Once we know that, it's easier to consider possible mitigating circumstances. It might be iPods, iTunes or QT movie trailers, or some portion thereof.

Education dont have s*** to do with it. The issue is cost of employment. If they work for less doing the same thing because their cost of living isn't as high. There is a savings for the company to hire cheaper workers and get better productivity for the price. This is all about money, not education. Lets not be naive.

In regards to computers assembled in the USA: actually they're mostly built in taiwan, china and japan but some are also assembled here in the USA as well. Remember, this IS a global economy!
