iPod users connect

Wired News has published a story on the unique camaraderie between many . "During his regular evening walk, software executive Steve Crandall often nods a polite greeting to other iPod users he passes: He easily spots the distinctive white earbuds threaded from pocket to ears." Crandall also describes the sharing of music by iPod users, "We listened for about 30 seconds," Crandall said. "No words were exchanged. We nodded and walked off."

Its totally true. Apple products are like addictive drugs. I am hopelessly in love with my iPod and couldn't part with it and don't even get me started about my dual G5.

    white earbud cult

I see a few people every day with the distinctive white earbuds. On the subway. On the street. They were everywhere in NYC when i was working there over the summer.

I've contemplated going back to my white earbuds, but i like the sound and isolation of my Etymotic ER-6es better. Sadly, i am no longer part of the white earbud cult. :(

    Visibility

Those white earbuds are very recognizable. I was on the subway in Manhattan recently and saw three unrelated people next to each other with iPods. I wish I'd had a camera handy.

    wow.

This is amazing!@# I tried this once with a walkman, and it didn't work at all.

The first thing I did when I got my iPod was buy a real pair of headphones that didn't sound like c***. I guess I'm not special anymore. (like someone else posted, you've never heard good earbuds until you've used the Etymotic ones.)

    Jackasses.

    When you've spent

500$ on a walkman you sure do recognize other gullibles like yourself.

    Etymotics

They're great when you're sitting still, but not so great when you're walking.

The cords brushing against clothing transmit those vibrations right into your ear canal. And foot impacts also seem quite loud in comparison.

    Earbuds don't work . . .

. . . for everybody. I have a strangely shaped left ear. They work in the right ear, but keep falling out of the left one. I finally found a comfortable pair of behind-the-head phones that I like a lot, though.
