Sony emulates Apple store

Sony has begun to open 'Sony Style' stores, which have a very similar look and feel to the Apple Store, according to a MacNN reader. They feature a large selection of Sony products, from computers and handhelds to digital cameras and accessories. In Orange County, California, Sony has recently opened a store in the main section of South Coast Plaza, next to the Gucci retail store. "Apple opened the Apple Store at South Coast Plaza about two years ago in a new extended section of the mall, named Crystal Court (located across a large parking lot and across a major through-street, the 2 buildings are connected by a large 'bridge' outdoor walkway about 2 stories in the air to go over the parking lot and street)."

    1st Post :)

'Emulation is the sincerest form of flattery' or something like that. Apple better watch out. Sony's gunning for them and has the resources to bury Apple in the consumer electronics market.

    Lame...

I can buy Sony Products anywhere... I can't buy Macs or Mac products anywhere, even at computer stores. This is why the Apple store just works.

    Coincidence

The largest US Applestore, on Michigan Ave. is right next to a older Sony store.

    Wonderful!

Just what I've been waiting for! A place to buy all those hard to find Sony products.

    Not really new.

I don't know about the U.S. but we've had exclusive Sony Stores not unlike those described in the story for some time in Canada. There is a huge Sony store in the Eaton Centre in downtown Toronto.

    Sony Metreon

We have a sony store in SF in the Metreon. It's not a big deal. I think their prices are close to full retail and they don't seem to ever have promotions. Just the other day, I saw a deal with Circuit City where you get a $400 gift card for buying a $3700 Sony TV.

    Just a clarification

The very Apple Store-like SONY Boutique has been up and running on Michigan Avenue in Chicago for more than 10 years.

If anything, Apple borrowed the sleek look and feel of their stores from SONY.

    This isn't new

There's been a Sony Style store in Metreon in San Francisco for like 4 years now, which predates any Apple store.

    not so sure

The Apple stores seems so much more minimalistic in nature than the Sony Style store. Actually, the Microsoft store (Metreon in SF) and Apple store seem to have more in common in looks.

I don't thunk the Mucusoft store is there anymore. It seemed to be some other entity last time I was there.

There is a Sony store, though, and I belive a PStation one as well.
