Security Update 2003-11-19

Apple today released Security Update 2003-11-19 for both ]

Some Jaguar users also report a new QuickTime for Java update: "Version 2 of the QuickTime for Java update includes support for using QuickTime 6.4 with either Java 1.4.1 or Java 1.3.1. This update is recommended for everyone using QuickTime 6.4 in order to maintain application compatibility. It is also recommended for those who installed the previous QuickTime for Java Update as it retains Java compatibility when upgrading to later versions of Mac OS X."

    How long is long?

"Meanwhile, we have a list of security fixes in Apple's Security Update 2003-11-19, which included long-awaited security updates for Mac OS X 10.2 Jaguar users (available previously only to Panther users)."

Long-awaited? Jaguar users did not even know about these alleged security problems until after Panther was released a month ago. That does not seem very long to me.

Regardless I have a difficult time believing that anyone was anxiously awaiting these fixes for Jaguar. These were not ever serious issues. Anyone so anal as to obsess on these bugs relly needs to get some therapy.

I just do not understand why MacNN always seems to try to make Apple sound worse than they are.

    New patch screws up Safar

I really regret installing this patch, as auto-fill passwords in Safari have been disabled. This was one of the most valuable features of Safari, and even allowed me to overlook a couple other *major* Safari bugs (that Apple won't even acknowledge exist).
