I really thought the Chinese were much smarter than this. Why would anyone run Linux on a desktop system? Linux on a server is sensible, but not on a desktop for average non-techie types to use. I am cancelling my plans to move to China right now.
They chose it because it is open and non-proprietary.
Although in offices where the workers perform few tasks they can be trained to use Linux if it is set up properly. Whether they are as productive as on a Mac, maybe not, but better Linux than Windows.
