BG:Throne of Bhaal for OS X

MacPlay today announced a Mac OS X version of , the expansion pack to the best-selling role playing game (RPG) Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn: "Like its predecessors, Throne of Bhaal uses official rules from Dungeons & Dragons, the long-running pen-and-paper RPG from Wizards of the Coasts. Players can either import their entire party from Shadows of Amn or create a new, high-level character and have the opportunity to choose a new class, the wild mage. They can also ask any of the non-player characters (NPCs) from Shadows of Amn to join them in their quest." It will begin shipping for Mac OS 9/X on November 21 for $30.

"Mac gamers asked for this one, so we're delivering it," said Henry Price, Director of Sales for MacPlay. "This game is amazing; you haven't really played D&D until you've become an ultra-powerful character and gone toe-to-toe with the fiercest monsters in the Forgotten Realms, and that's what Throne of Bhaal is all about."

"The story takes players south of the city of Amn, to the country of Tethyr, where the final battle awaits. Players' characters are now Bhaal Spawn who possess the power to battle dozens of new monsters, including blue dragons, fire giants, and magic golems, as they attempt to fulfill their final destiny. As they uncover the mysteries in Watcher's Keep and other Tethyr locales, they can advance as high as 40th level, amassing up to 8 million experience points and picking up new special abilities along the way." Throne of Bhaal offers new magic items that players can find or forge from existing treasures, including blue dragon scale armor.

Lets hope for a good port

Let's hope they do a better job than they did with the original BG II, which is unplayable due to its constant quiting under Jaguar and Panther. Let's hope for better optimization, too...
