Australian Apple Boutiques
Apple plans to at Australian retail chains in time for Christmas. According to Australian IT, "the new stores within David Jones will be structured differently to Apple's previous, less than successful attempts at selling computers in the department store chain, as well as Harvey Norman." The five locations in Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, the Gold Coast and Sydney are scheduled to open December 1, 2003 and will be staffed by trained Apple employees.

Good to see Apple being more proactive down here in the South Pacific. However, if only Apple could start taking more of an interest in New Zealand. Apple doesn't offically even have a prescence here, merely a distributor called Renaissance see www.apple.co.nz. A company which is also a Microsoft distributor, so they don't care if a sale is a Mac or a PC, they win either way. Hardly leads to a growth in marketshare, added to the fact that the last time I saw an add on TV was like 100 years ago, the state of Apple in NZ sucks.
Anyways at least the aussies have a good Apple setup :/
