The New York Times' coverage of last night's Western Conference Finals Game 3 between the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers contained mention of a just-completed mural near the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. However, the mural was attributed to the wrong company. Update: The online version of the article has since been corrected. [registration required]
As visitors drove up to the Staples Center this afternoon, they could view a just-completed mural on the outside of a downtown hotel. On the left was Wilt Chamberlain finger- rolling the ball in, in the middle was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar launching a sky hook and on the right was O'Neal dunking ferociously, his knees up in the air, like a kid hanging on a jungle gym in the playground. On top of the mural was the Microsoft slogan, "Think Different."
Oak Technology, a manufacturer that supplies the components used in many Macintosh optical drives, has announced that it is joining the DVD+RW Alliance. The alliance is a voluntary group of computer manufacturers, optical storage and electronics manufacturers dedicated to developing and promoting a universally compatible, rewritable DVD format. Among the other members of the alliance are Yamaha, Sony, and Phillips.

It comes bundled with CD mastering software, CD-R and CD-RW media, a protective carrying bag and all necessary accessories. The drive is backward compatible with USB 1.1 (for USB 1.1-equipped PCs) at speeds of 4x4x8. Que's new drive is priced at $249 and will be available through the Apple Store.

TouchSystems and eTurboTouch Technology have announced a strategic alliance and debuted two patented touchscreen technologies, Turbo Pen and Turbo T6, at a press conference held at the Westin in Taipei, Taiwan. Turbo Pen is a new, pen-based touch device that enables the panel to distinguish between it and the hand, whereas other pen technologies often mistake the hand or knuckle for the input device. The T6 is a sturdy, flat touch-screen for kiosks.

MusicMatch has introduced the gold version of its latest Jukebox software package. The new release offers multi-task and multi-session burning. This new system also provides more media support through hundreds of CD-R and CD-RW drives and multiple formats, including 80-minute and credit-card size CD.
