DiskLock 4.6.2 issue with digital audio G4s
PowerOn Software has indentified an issue with the new digital audio Power Mac G4s and its DiskLock 4.6.2 software, where "users may experience an 'unimplemented trap error" at startup after installing DiskLock and protecting the startup drive.'" The company's recommends unprotecting the drive and does not recommend using the software on the new machines."

MacGhostView 2.0: Distiller alternative
MacGhostView 2.0 is an update to the general purpose Postscript and PDF previewer for the Mac, offering the ability to display documents that conform to Adobe's Document Structuring Conventions. The download includes macps2pdf, a Postscript to PDF converter based on ghostscript 6.01, which is capable of embedding Type1 fonts in a PDF document for a "viable alternative to Adobe's Distiller." A version for Mac OS X public beta is also available.

Azine Software has released iSee 2, which adds a progress bar, movie support, an improved file info dialog and bug fixes to the $10 shareware preview tool that shows thumbnails of the pictures you select in the Finder.

Marc Moini's system folder migration utility Clean-Install Assistant 1.5.1 now allow users to move files from Mac OS 9.1 to a newer Mac OS version, or to/from 9.1 and previous versions.

ATI Mobility Radeon chip shipping
ATI this week began shipping its Mobility Radeon, a notebook version of its high-end graphics chip that offers power consumption of about 1 watt and supports resolutions up to 2,048 x 1,536 pixels in 32-bit "true" color using three texture pipelines, according to Techweb. (The new Titanium PowerBook G4 ships with ATI Rage Mobility 128.)
