PCData releases study on makeup of Internet

PC Data reports that the average Internet user is white, 33 years old with some college experience and a household income of $66,916, according to its quarterly Net Portrait* survey of U.S. home Internet users. Online men outnumber women by a 51 to 49 percent ratio. Caucasians make up 77 percent of the Internet population, while African Americans comprise six percent. The remaining is distributed among Asian, Native American, Hispanic and other populations.

Ricoh introduces new Mac-compatible printers

Ricoh has introduced the Aficio 350e and 450e, digital imaging systems with Mac-compatible network printing options. Additionally, the systems feature copying, faxing and network scanning capabilities. Features include standard 20-MB of RAM, 4-GB copier hard disk drive and 600-dpi copying/scanning resolution. The 350e has printing speeds of up to 35 ppm, and the 450e reaches 45 ppm. There is also an option for Adobe Postscript 3.

Unicast releases Superstitial 3.0

Unicast has released SUPERSTITIAL 3.0, a nonbanner, interactive online advertising format. The update adds support for Macintosh OS, ad-printing capabilities and complex forms for in-ad data collection. Ads can be up to 100 K in file size, hold any size and position on the screen and are created using tools, such as Macromedia Flash.

QuickTime 4.1.2 fixes QDesign issues, bugs

Apple has posted QuickTime 4.1.2, which current users can download by using the QuickTime Updater application found inside of the QuickTime folder. The update contains a variety of fixes and improvements, including improved MP3 playback and QDesign Streaming. Users who encounter the VISEData error when attempting to download the software should simply launch the installer/updater again, as many times as it takes, until the download is complete.

Neon's SNMP-based CyberGuage 3.0 released

Neon Software's CyberGauge 3.0 is a new version of the company's SNMP-based utility for monitoring Internet bandwidth across the routers of a network. CyberGauge allows administrators to easily check how much bandwidth is being used and can also create graphs of the usage that can be printed or set to be automatically uploaded to a Web server. With version 3.0 CyberGauge can notify administrators with email or pager alerts when a device is down. Licenses are available for 5, 10, or 20 devices for $295, $495, and $695 respectively; educational and volume discounts are also available.

Coda Music Technology and Musitek have partnered to bring Musitek's MidiScan music-scanning software to Coda's music-notation products, such as Finale, Allegro and PrintMusic!.
